Nicaraguan MMA Commission Overturned Ricardo Mayorga's Victory Against Wesley Tiffer to a No-ContestCouple of weeks after the former boxer won his first MMA victory over Wesley Tiffer, Ricardo Mayorga at the Omega MMA: “Battle of the Americas,” may have to go back to the cage after the Nicaraguan MMA Commission overturned his victory to a no-contest.

The boxer weighed in 175.9 pounds as compared to Tiffer’s 153 pounds, but despite the weight discrepancy for the scheduled lightweight bout, the fight went on.

During the match, Tiffer repeatedly put Mayorga to the mat, but the boxer managed to hit a decisive blow to the MMA fighter with what appeared to be a knee to the spine, freeing himself from an armbar. The third man on the cage, Milton Rosales failed to call a foul at the time of the strike, but the MMA fighter was not able to continue, prompting cage physician to stop the fight.

However, Zack Asagary, chairman of the commission reviewed the fight, and eventually changed the result of the fight at the press conference. Furthermore, Mayorga was meted with a three months suspension.
