Mix Martial Arts veteran and former UFC fighter Sherman Pendergast died this morning after battling rectal and colon cancer for two years.

His coach, Pat Miletech said, “He always cared for others more than himself. He told me a few months ago that he had lived a great life and reached his goals and was at peace.”

Pendergast fought in the UFC back in UFC 65 where he lost to Antoni Hardonk. He also fought under the Bellator and faced Joey Beltran in Bellator 5 back in May 2009.  He holds a record of 11-18 win loss card.

According to Miletech, not even his illness prevented Pendergast from competing and even while suffering from the effect of cancer, he appeared at an event in Fargo, N.D. He was born in Baltimore but settled in Iowa and trained under Miletech after he gave up his job as a mortgage broker.
